Tips – The Application Email

Here are a few tips that can help you when applying for a position.

  1. The subject line: Clearly indicate the position you are applying for ie: Conceptual Copywriter. If the job spec indicates that you need to provide a reference number then this would be the place to quote that reference number ie: Conceptual Copywriter | Ref CC001

  2. The body: This is where you sell yourself. You can be as creative as you like but keep it short and concise. In a nutshell you can tell the recruiter about your current/previous position and why you would be suitable for the role.

  3. The conclusion: In this paragraph I would suggest indicating your salary requirements, your availability and close off with thanking the recruiter for taking the time out to view your resume. Leave your full name, website (should you have one) and your contact details.

Lastly, before sending off the email drafted double-check that your spelling is correct and that the documents you intended on attaching is actually attached to the email.

Good luck!
